First of all, Monica’s Surgery was completed and she came through it as well as could be expected. 30+ stitches in her mouth as well as the accompanying swelling, bruising and soreness. HOPEFULLY we will not have any recurrence of the cysts in her Jawbone and Sinus Cavity. Second of all, I recently read Dead Certain by Robert Draper. Draper is OBVIOUSLY a Liberal, but my take on it was that he HONESTLY tried to objective when writing this book. However, the farther you read, to more he swerves HARD to The Left. Overall it is not a bad book, but Draper’s BDS make it nearly intolerable to read by the end of the book. Third of all, I apologize for my absence. But with Monica’s surgery and Spring Cleanup at The Stables, I have been going at it like a 1 armed paper hanger for the last month. Last but not least, let’s start planning our get together at GOE if that still works for everyone. Within 2 hours or less of me are GunnyG, Anne, Crawfish, Kilroy, Recon-USMC and IceDog, so there is a start for car pooling, etc. Now onward to The Fray!

   One of the most troublesome tribes of The Left are the Enviro-Nazis. I am including in this classification: PETA, various Tree Hugger Groups and The Greens. These Dope Addled, Leftover Hippies have DESTROYED America’s Industrial Base, Agricultural Base and made us, for all intents and purposes, BEGGARS to regimes that are HOSTILE towards America and what we stand for. The Impact of these loons on 4 CRUCIAL AREAS, if NOT CORRECTED, will leave us beggars to The EU and/or OPEC in the years to come.

I. Ethanol & II. Food Production

   In the interest of full disclosure, in his younger days, my Dad moonlighted as Head Mechanic for the biggest Moonshiner is West Virginia. Knowing Dad, he would NEVER have been satisfied to just watch the cars run, he would have DRIVEN THEM. He also knew A LOT about the properties of Corn Liquor, which is for all intents and purposes what Ethanol is.

   First of all, the mechanical reasons against Ethanol are LEGION. But as we all know, with Liberals it is FEELINGS and not FACTS that are important. In fact, according to Liberal Math, FEELINGS=FACTS. Ethanol is ALCOHOL and therefore, its burns VERY HOT and VERY FAST! A vehicle that gets 30 MPG with gasoline will get 20 MPG, AT MOST, from an equal amount of Ethanol. As it burns hot, Ethanol will EVENTUALLY cause engine problems with the heat of it degrading engine components. As it is water based, Ethanol is prone to condensation and separation. Anyone who thinks water and an internal combustion engine go together has never had water in their gas tank. Not to mentions what happens to metal exposed to water on a long term basis.

   Second of all, Ethanol is VERY expensive to produce. So much so that WITHOUT Government Subsidies, it would be cost prohibitive to produce. Corn must be cooked in water to produce Ethanol. So either wood, coal or a gas of some kind has to be burned to produce enough heat to make Ethanol. Once again, Tree Hugging Liberal Morons butt up against The Facts/Feelings Conundrum. To produce a CLEAN GREEN ENERGY SOURCE, they HAVE to burn FOSSIL FUELS not only to produce it, but to get it to The Marketplace as tankers run on Diesel.

   Last but not least, Ethanol is made MORE cost prohibitive by the fact of grains being part of The Commodities Market. Before Ethanol, Cereal Companies, Bakeries, etc had crop farmers over a barrel. As there was NO COMPETITION for corn, prices stayed low & steady for a LONG TIME. SUDDENLY, there was COMPETITION IN THE MARKETPLACE for corn and the price TRIPLED in a relatively short period of time. This in turn drove up the price of Milk and Meat as corn is the most commonly used grain for Livestock Feed. This in turn led to more acreage being planted for corn and less acreage of other grains being planted. Which in turn drove up the prices of other grains, because the demand for other grains was still high, but the supply of them was MUCH LOWER! Under these conditions, farmers are making out like bandits. However, the farmers are BLAMELESS as it was the Goofy Greens who came up with this bright idea in the first place. Get ready for a BRAWL in Congress on this subject. The Incumbent Congressmen/Senators along the I-35 corridor KNOW that if they suspend Ethanol Production they are TOAST on Election Day. However, if they DO NOT suspend Ethanol Production and food costs continue to rise, a DRASTIC makeover of Congress WILL OCCUR as folks express their discontent at The Ballot Box. Which is the ONLY GOOD THING that may come of The Ethanol Boondoggle.

III. Oil Production

   Oil was CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL until the Advent of OPEC. Their Managed Shortages have sent Crude Oil on an upward trend that is the envy of Wall Street. At the same time our friends, The Drug Addled, Leftover Hippie, Tree Hugging Morons decided that Oil Drilling and Refining was harming The Environment. Add to this Perfect Storm America’s support for Israel and the election of Jimmy Carter to POTUS and THE FIX WAS IN! To punish Jimmy Carter’s Idiocy in fomenting the overthrow of The Shah of Iran, yet at the same time offering him Political Asylum, Middle East oil spigots were turned down to a trickle. While at the same time, oil exploration/drilling/refining was put on the same level as kiddie porn by The Liberals and their Tree Hugger Masters in America. The drop in US production of Crude Oil, coupled with the formation of OPEC and Iranian Pique at Jimmy ‘The Coward’ Carter started The Meteoric Rise of the cost of crude oil. The only break occurred in the Late 1980’s, when The Iran/Iraq War led to a glut of oil on the world market and The Oil Market collapsed. I doubt we can count something like that today. India & China have finally entered The 20^th Century and there are 2,000,000,000, that’s 2 BILLION, of them and both countries require HUGE amounts of energy. Both countries are actively exploring for energy and hoarding what they have. So yet another Managed Shortage appears in The Oil Marketplace.

   Given this state of affairs, the answer to our energy problem is simple. Drill ANYWHERE we can and tell The Tree Huggers there are 2 things they can do about, NOTHING AND LIKE IT! The problem with Tree Huggers is they base their Paradigm on the past. I will grant that there was LOTS of pollution from Steel Mills and the like in the past. However, THINK of how far Automotive Technology has come in the last 30 years. Think of how far Technology in General has advanced in the last 30 years. From Cell Phones to the PC you are reading this on, EVERYTHING has gotten better, smaller, cheaper and faster. Therefore, it is LOGICAL TO ASSUME that Oil Drilling/Refining Technology has improved. However, once again The Tree Huggers have gummed The Works and Domestic Oil production has dropped by over 40% and NO NEW REFINERIES have been built in the last 30 years! Having said that, the current spike in fuel prices WILL drive the economy OFF A CLIFF if left unchecked. I STRONGLY urge EVERYONE who reads this to write your Senators and Reps and DEMAND they cease kissing up to the Tree Huggers and open ANWR, The Rockies and The Continental Shelf for Oil Exploration, Drilling and Refining.

IV. Global Warming

   When The Enviro-Nazi Movement burst on the scene in the late 60’s/early 70’s, their first FAKE CRISIS was The Imminent Ice Age AKA Global Cooling. Various books on the subject prophesied a MASSIVE die-off as food production would be unable to support the population and other apocalyptic events, NONE of which occurred. After Al Bore was defeated for POTUS in 2000, he seemed to be a ship without a rudder. All he seemed to do was eat and not shave, then all of a sudden, THERE HE WAS! Big (and Fat) as life ,screeching that the Earth was Warming at an ALARMING RATE (1 degree per century) and CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES were imminent. We have all heard the DIRE CONSEQUENCES we can expect from Global Warming ad infinitum, so I see no need to rehash them here. Instead I would like to look at Global Warming/Tree Hugging and discredit it by applying Common Sense FACTS to Tree Hugger Feelings. I have asked the following to NUMEROUS Tree Hugger Types and have NEVER received an answer.

   In the 1970‘s, steel mills were working 24/7 and burning coal to liquefy iron ore pellets. Coal mines were working 24/7 to supply the coal for this process. Nearly all the vehicles weighed in the neighborhood of three tons. These vehicles had no pollution control devices, had large V8 engines and got very poor mileage. The Hippies would have us believe that all of this BURNING would’ve led to GLOBAL COOLING?!?!?! NOW, with pollution controls on such activities, these same Drug Addled, Leftover Hippies claim that Global Warming is Eminent and that America is THE LEADING CULPRIT! NO OTHER INDUSTRIALIZED NATION pays as much attention to pollution as we do and China and India pay no attention to it WHATSOEVER. Also remember Al Bore travels in a Private Jet, an SUV and his house uses as much energy in 30 DAYS as an average home uses in 1 YEAR! Doesn’t that make him a GLOBAL WARMER? Last but not least, We have had NUMEROUS Ice Ages. WHAT ENDED these Ice Ages? WHAT STARTED these Ice Ages? I submit that Global Warming AND Global Cooling occur NATURALLY and mankind has NOTHING to do with it!

V. Conclusion

   HOW do these theories gain support when a modicum of LAYMAN RESEARCH shoots them full of holes? As evidence of this, I would like to offer a few other examples of Enviro-Stupidity/Hypocrisy. A few years back. I was visiting some friends in California. While there, the ELF torched an SUV dealership saying they did it to save the environment. HELLO! How much toxic smoke was released into the atmosphere from burning paint, burning tires and burning plastic? In my area, PETA claimed the deer population was DANGEROUSLY LOW! Deer Hunting was banned and in just 2 YEARS, there were so many deer that they had fouled the reservoirs with manure and by trampling and eating vegetation that held dirt in place. There was a DRAMATIC rise in vehicle and deer accidents and soup kitchens were low on food as many hunters give half the meat they kill to soup kitchens. PETA built its headquarters on waterfront property in Virginia and killed MILLIONS of aquatic organisms to do so.

   Last but not least, a few years back an archaeological dig in Maryland showed that in ages past Maryland had an extensive Bear Population. So it was decided that Black Bears should be reintroduced to Maryland. Many objections to this were raised, such as the fact that bears are omnivores and WILL eat domestic livestock given the opportunity and that Female Bears are protective to the point of VIOLENCE of any PERCEIVED threat to their young. The PETA types said they could ELIMINATE this problem by introducing 4 male bears in 1 part of the state and 4 female bears in another. They did so and 2 YEARS LATER they found that there were 20 bears in the state of Maryland. They claimed they had NO IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENED! For a group WELL KNOWN for their PROMISCUITY, this explanation was UNBEARABLE ;)!
